As often happens during winter in the North Carolina Piedmont, snow fell north of Charlotte last week but did not extend to the Queen City. On an overnight trip to Greensboro this past weekend, we glimpsed patches of snow lingering on the Greensboro Country Club course.
This location of the Greensboro Country Club is known as “the farm”, as the property north of town was home to a dairy farm owned by my great-grandparents and grandparents from the 1920’s through the 1960’s. Some of the original farm buildings remain on the club grounds, reminiscent of the days when Guernsey cows roamed the land instead of golfers.
With a 100% chance of snow in the forecast for today, we may soon have our own view of winter beauty in Charlotte .
