Rainbow over Figure 8 Island

Rainbow over Figure 8 Island

I grew up spending summers in North Carolina, traveling  between Greensboro, the mountains and the beach. I loved each place for different reasons – Greensboro for family, the mountains for cool air and gorgeous views, and the ocean for seafood and swimming. I now live in Charlotte with my husband, daughter and dog, but our definition of “home” extends to Southern spots where we reunite with family and friends. As we can visit both our families in just a few hours drive, we take a lot of road trips and very few flights (so far).

I started this blog as a way to discover new sights, sounds, tastes and stories in places I’ve visited many times, and explore new Southern destinations. I work as a PR consultant and freelance writer, and cheer for the Carolina Panthers and Davidson Wildcats. I would love to hear about your favorite places to travel in the South, and appreciate you taking the time to check out my blog.

Best,

Ashley

  1. So glad you meet you through blogging! Thanks for following Oh, the Places We See. I write about my travels that are sometimes work-related. I work for Discovery Education, and this year, I’ll be in North Carolina! Just returned from Salisbury, Davidson, and Raleigh, but haven’t written about any of them . . . yet. Last year, I worked in Idaho, so you can find some posts under my page at the top: Inland Northwest. Looking forward to reading your posts. We love the South, but traveling all over the place is also a lot of fun. http://ohtheplaceswesee.com

    • So happy to find you too! I look forward to checking out your blog and keeping up with your travels. I hope you had a good trip to NC – I went to Davidson College so Davidson is one of my favorite places!

      • An absolutely lovely place. But then, we love classic architecture, tree-lined walkways, and quaint shops!!! Stayed at the Village Inn. Nice visit.

      • I’ve heard The Village Inn is fabulous – need to stay there some time. I’m so glad they’ve kept the historic feel of Main Street – every time I visit I want to move there! So glad you enjoyed your visit.
